Solved Lenovo S12 Setup - Networking broken between 11.4 to 12.2

Hello,

I'm trying to "recycle" this old netbook while learning about FreeBSD.

I've managed to get 11.4-RELEASE-p9 running and the wired network working (ssh works fine but the display is not working, the screen stays black on the tty even though I can login and reboot while typing blind).
I've tried to upgrade to 12.2-RELEASE-p7, but on reboot the bge0 interface is no longer running.

From dmesg, I've gathered the following error :

Code:
bge0: <Broadcom BCM5906 A2, ASIC rev. 0x00c002> irq 24 at device 0.0 on pci1
bge0: 0x10000 bytes of rid 0x10 res 3 failed (0, 0xffffffffffffffff).
bge0: couldn't map BAR0 memory
device_attach: bge0 attach returned 6

So I'm stuck without network access to the machine to finish upgrading to 13.0 and without easy physical access to troubleshoot on it (no display on tty).

Anyone has an idea on how to fix this ?

Yeah, I was looking at a USB to Serial adapter at first but either are worth more than I'm willing to spend to get this machine working :/
I'm mostly trying to get some use out of it instead of declaring it obsolete and getting it literally recycled.

Edit :
Went with Alpine Linux, only the boot needed a tweak (initcall_blacklist=init_hw_perf_events to avoid a kernel panic).
