Romans found out that sour wine that you kept in lead vessels would sweeten up with time. That was wine acid reacting with the lead to form leadacetate, which is said to taste sweet. That got quite into fashion, and what happens when you have the political and financial elite with a massive lead poisoning (makes brain dumb) ... here we come to the current international news.
 
Apparantly 'roundup' is just great for stopping oats in storage going off-coloured. Since I found that out I always buy 'organic' and hope for the best...
