Hello everyone,
I thought I'd give you an update on my FreeBSD/Xorg quest. I built and installed a new world (STABLE) as suggested and that went well. I then used "portinstall -P xorg" to install X and I could not make it work. The version that was installed was different than if I had used "pkg_add -r xorg" so I tried this one too without success. I tried both using HAL and DBUS and without. No luck: the system just freezes and reboots.
So... it seems that for the moment I have to disable "dri" and "dri2" in order to use FreeBSD and Xorg. But then I might simply forget the whole thing and use Windows 7 exclusively :-( (unless someone here has ideas of course!!)
Anyway, even if I choose to remove FreeBSD I have to say this board and the FreeBSD community in general is great! You guys are really helpful!
