KDE4 cannot run as root

New to KDE4, try to find out the answer on a lot of problems. When I login and I go to run a GUI app using sudo, I get this error:

No protocol specified
Geany: cannot open display

Geany was just an example.
But running: cp /home/ember/.Xauthority /root then applications are opening as root.

Some years ago I logged into kde-4.1 (or maybe it was 4.0) with root on gnu/linux. Had to change the AllowRootLogin=false in kdmrc, which should be located in /usr/local/kde4/share/config/kdm by default on FreeBSD to AllowRootLogin=true to be able to log in as root. I never tried that on FreeBSD though.

Why do you want to run the app as root? It's a very bad practice security-wise.

Yeah, GUI toolkit developers don't make any promises as to the security of their software when running under root.

This is one from Gtk+ but I am sure Qt will have something similar.

I tried to make my keyboard to work. But for my pc-bluetoothmanager (see here) needs root permissions to configure keyboard (which is something that I try two weeks now). Also programs like security/zenmap and net-mgmt/etherape ask "run as root" for full functionality.
