KDE on Wayland (VMware VM): wrong display resolution

Setup: a VMware 25 virtual machine (on a Windows PC), FreeBSD 15.0 (the same on 14.3 as well), KDE Plasma 6.5.3 (latest), open-vm-tools installed, window size 1918*932.
If I start KDE on X11 (automatically via SDDM), the virtual screen resolution is automatically adjusted to the window size (1918*932).
However, on Wayland (configured to start via startx) the virtual screen resolution becomes gynormous (approx. 7000*5000) and does NOT auto-adjust, the only way to change it is to zoom out the virtual screen and somehow manage to click the appropriate option in the KDE settings.
Even more, if later I start KDE on X11, the situation with Wayland repeats.
Why does this happen? And how to prohibit any screen resolution higher than 1920*1080?

Hello! Running into a similar hurdle hehe.

FreeBSD 15.0 release on bare metal Dell Precision mobile workstation.

My tests point to base system deps resolving graphics to display. And it depends on your Wayland configuration.

I tested plasma6-plasma-desktop, sddm, dbus, consolekit, and the Wayland toolchain.

1 thing to ensure is your graphics drivers are loaded in via kldload.

Work in progress
