How come PC BSD has so much newer version of KDE? When will we see KDE updated in FreeBSD ports? Was the delay caused by ports freeze during 9.1 release?
kde-4.9.3 was in area51 for some time, most probably PC-BSD's version is exactly that one. Currently it's kde-4.9.5 that is in area51, and the delay is being caused by the build server not working as expected, too few developers working on it and also too few testers
kde-4.9.3 had so many and grave bugs/regressions that you're better off with 4.8.4 btw.
I'm using area51's 4.9.5 on 8-stable and it's working [semi-]flawlessly. Admittedly I'm having issues but these have not been specific to 4.9.5.
Xibo, any way I can help out with testing or even developing? Is there a place I can sign up or do I basically just report any bugs I can find? (I'm already on the kde@freebsd.org list).
