is sway+wayland+fcitx5 best for freebsd?

"Best" is relative, and more of a personal choice. What works best for me might be utterly useless for you. Why don't you try it and figure out if it works for you, or not?

I have one machine, running that combination. One nice thing about sway and fcitx5 is that I don't have to declare the variables, such as XMODIFIERS anywhere, using fcitx5 with anthy gives me Japanese input. Being very used to dwm (or dwl in Wayland), I have to make a few adjustments, as sway reacts a bit differently, but the combination works well for me. To repeat what SirDice said, it's more of a personal choice. Using dwl does not work well for me with fcitx5. (It might also depend upon what language you use with fcitx5). Anyway, window managers are very much a personal choice, and as I read longggg ago in an argument about mutt vs pine, before pine became alpine, people pull out all sorts of technical reasons to justify what is, in the end, an emotional decision...

That's a verrrrry long way of answering, Sure, if the combination is working for you. :)
