Is it safe to delete .gconfd

I'm using FreeBSD as server and logon to it mostly via ssh. Today I found out that I can also use vncserver so I guess I will use that sometimes. Anyway, while I was backing up the system using dump, I have noticed that my /home is quite large. User has this saved_state file that is 4GB in .gconfd folder.

Is it safe to delete that file? What does it contain?

I'm not sure exactly what that file does but the directory is used by Gnome for housekeeping.
