Installing ISC Stork Agent on FreeBSD 14.x

Hello,

I would like to explore Stork and Stork Agent to handle a Bind+Kea service. Before going too deep into the rabbit hole, I would like to know if anyone has tested the Agent on FreeBSD (14).
I can’t find any clear procedure to do that (and FreeBSD is not officially supported…

Any pointers appreciated :)

Hey there,
I managed to get both the agent and the server running on 14.2

I followed the build from source guide from the ISC https://stork.readthedocs.io/en/latest/install.html#installing-on-freebsd
After getting the built files in the right locations (e.g. binaries in /usr/local/bin) the binaries run just fine if you pass it the config parameters or point it to the "env" file after editing it.

/usr/local/bin/stork-agent --use-env-file --env-file=/usr/local/etc/stork/agent.env

Similar for the server with the added postgres dependency (I used databases/postgresql16-server and postgresql16-contrib. The stork-tool created the database and generated a DB password. First run of stork-server setup the tables.

Some work - but seems to be running fine.

Very nice, thanks a lot for your feedback.

I’ve given up on stork for now (other things to do…) but I might look into it later when I’ll design my new gateway.
