general/other Installing FreeBSD v1.0 in a virtual machine

I got FreeBSD v1.0 on CD many years ago and am intrigued about how it actually looks.
I have extracted the contents into a directory and was wondering if there was any way of installing it in a virtual machine.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Maybe. If I recall correctly you had to create two boot floppies, one with a kernel and the other has a small root filesystem with the installer on it. You boot off the kernel floppy first then, when prompted, insert the mfsroot floppy.

You might be able to get this working by selecting an IDE controller, floppy and likely need to use an e1000 network interface.
