I'm using obs-studio and it performs a lot faster than linux.

I have tested the performance of linux on xorg and wayland.
I don't know if it is because i don't use a compositor and i have just enabled the tearing free option but its blazing fast.

Can you provide any numbers like FPS or something to quantify that? Or is it just "snappier" in feeling? I haven't done anything with OBS for a couple years, but last I tried with my dual-boot Windows/FreeBSD system, the FPS for the incoming video capture was significantly lower in FreeBSD than on Windows.

Yes on linux even broadcasting a video file alone inserted like a media source is choppy and ugly !
Also cpu usage climbs very very high ! I tried using linux with only a window manager , linux with kde and gnome on wayland and its really slow !

My computer is an old Amd A8 and i believe me you can surely detect also any kind of performance difference that might not notice on faster pcs.
I found a cool 2 x 6core Intel Xeon pc with 200 $ and probably i will upgrade in a month or two.
