Yes, you should read the other recent posts on this subject about the pkg upgrade problems. I have no problems with X, but the xfce and xfce4-goodies packages have disappeared from the default repository. Even a clean install of release 14.2 for amd64 using the original installation media (and .iso file) doesn't find them.XFCE and KDE, and all similar other full DE's ports seem to be completely gone from PKG now, am I missing something or what?
I figured as much but kind of surprised to see such rolling / unstable action happening on this branch. Feels like im using Arch suddenly. For the record, the wayland WM stuff all seems to work and is still in PKG to install but I don't have time to figure out why it defaults to the childish unreadable font packages and so won't be rushing to switch to wayfire or sway either.Looking at pkg-status and considering my experience with my own poudriere here at home, the upgraded ports-mgmt/pkg now inspects requisite packages for libraries. If those libraries are not in the ldconfig search path -- not all need to be -- it is failing the prerequisites on missing libraries. I noticed this with my own poudriere builds and I suspect the package management team needs to address this too.
I use CDE, though I did have gnome, xfce, and lxde also installed. As I only used gnome, xfce, and lxde when showing off FreeBSD to people at OpenHack or elsewhere, removing them a circumvented the problem (and reduced my port load by approximately 800 ports). The missing packages failed due to extra dilligence provided by the new pkg. You will need to wait for the ports management team to correct the problem.
