HP SMART TANK 5100 SCANNING NOT WORKING

I am trying to get xsane to work with the HP Smart Tank 5100. I can see and print from this printer. I am just having a problem with scanning/xsane. HPLIP is working just fine for printing. However, if I try to use xsane for scanning it sees the scanner but comes back with an error from HPLIP saying that the "Driver Plug-in Installation is required: HP Device requires proprietary plug-in which is missing. Click 'Next' to continue plug-in installation" Upon clicking 'Next', a new window for 'Driver Plug-in Installation' comes up and it has 3 options "Download and install the plug-in from an HP authorized server", "Select and install an existing local copy of the plug-in file", "Skip installation of the plug-in". Choosing option 1, generates errors. One error says the download is corrupt. A different error says "Failed to install Plug-in. Either you have chosen to skip the Plug-in installation or entered incorrect Password"

(The error from xsane says "Failed to open device `hpaio:/usr/Smart_Tank_5100_series?serial=TH53SBT2HJ': error during device I/O.)

If someone could point me to where I can get the driver plug-in, that would be a good start. :)

This is on FreeBSD 15.0 release.

Well, it looks like the PORTS system has the hplip-plugin. It's in there due to it being proprietary. Sorry for the noise. I hope this resolves the issue.

It has not fixed it. :( My system running 15.0-RELEASE seems to still have an issue with finding the plugin. Does anyone have an HP smart tank system that is working with 15.0 and the current version of xsane?

How do you connect to you printer? USB? Wireless?
The command line necessary to specify a network scanner can be confusing. My scanner is an Epson, using the sane-epson2(5) backend. It is also connected via wireless, which involves the sane-net(5) backend.
So to use sxane to scan I use this command line:
Code:
xsane epson2:net:10.1.161.8
( I could have replaced the ip address with a hostname if I had bothered to do so).
