Solved How to split signle cat5 drop to 2 servers

Hi,

I would like to setup CARP over 2 servers in our quarter rack but the Datacentre in only able to provide us with a single cat5 drop..
Is there ways to split it so I can feed both servers at the same time without using a switch?

This Ethernet splitter allows two computers to share one Ethernet line ONE AT A TIME, but it doesn't support both computers to connect onto the internet simultaneously. Just one output port is working.

Splitters like that are often used for IDS if you can't use SPAN ports.

umm, how do other people achieve Hight availability with 1 single feed?
do you put the switch before the firewall? Create vlan in switch ?

Yes and yes. Ideally you use a separate switch but to keep the costs down a separated VLAN is usually used.
