Solved How to reduce "Wired" memory?

Even with no display running, I have 900MB of memory being used up by "Wired."

Is there some possible method of reducing the amount taken up by "wired" memory so I can devote it to the hungry web browser? I run a desktop, not a server.

It's not abnormal. Why your browser is so angry? Does that bother you?
If yes, think differently: change your browser or add hardware memory.

ZFS, if you are using that, uses a lot of memory but it will release some of it if apps need it. Unused ram is wasted ram. The system will release memory if necessary. This is probably not an issue.
