Solved How to mount archive file as read-only filesystem?

Hi,

Could anybody help me to find way to mount archive file as read-only filesystem? Archive file can be zip, tar.xz, bz, gz...

There is sysutils/fusefs-zip and sysutils/fusefs-gunzip, but I do not know how well they work.
Why do need to mount them anyway?

In FreeBSD you can extract all of these formats with e.g. tar xvf archive.zip.

I have 1TB of compressed files on storage. Storage is almost full, so no space for extraction.

In that case maybe you can just mount tmpfs(5) (an in-memory file system) somewhere and extract only the files you need in there.

That's exact what I need.

Does a computer system require as much GB in RAM as an archive or image file size when mounting it by tmpfs(5) or mdmfs(8)? If it doesn't, is this done by a loopback function? Or it seems swap can take care of this?
