Solved How to install FreeBSD 10.1 RELEASE i386

Heya..

I'm currently trying to install a fresh FreeBSD 10.1 RELEASE i386 in my DELL laptop E4300.

But, I'm stuck at
Code:
mountroot> _

Steps that I've done but still fail.
1. I followed a Forum in here https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/installing-freebsd-8-from-usb-flash-using-win-xp.29334/
2. I download a latest version (10.1) of FreeBSD at ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/r...AGES/10.1/FreeBSD-10.1-RELEASE-i386-disc1.iso
3. I download YUMI-0.0.4.2 from http://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator
3.1 (Preparations)
1. Open the YUMI-0.0.4.2
2. Choose USB Device (my 2GB Kingston)
3. Select a distribution, iI chose "Try Unlisted ISO (via SYSLINUX)"
4. Browse the ISO, iI chose FreeBSD-10.1-RELEASE-i386-disc1.iso that iI've downloaded earlier.
4. I switch on my laptop (DELL E4300 with 2GB RAM)
5. I hit "F12" and chose "USB Storage Device" -> ENTER -> "GRUB Bootable ISOs" -> ENTER -> "Boot FreeBSD-10.1-RELEASE-i386-disc1.iso" -> ENTER
6. All running well… but then it stops and show...
Code:
    mountroot>

*ATTACHED is the image of the laptop screen.

What should I do now? Please help.

Use the memstick image if you want to boot from USB.

Thanks for your reply sir.

I already tried with that also before iI tried to use the ISO file. But I still also get stuck.

I referred to this forum too.. https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/install-pre.html#INSTALL-BOOT-MEDIA

Steps I've done:
1. Download the image at ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/r...S/10.1/FreeBSD-10.1-RELEASE-i386-memstick.img
2. Write the image using win32-image-writer. (As in https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/install-pre.html#INSTALL-BOOT-MEDIA, Procedure 3.2. Using Windows® to Write the Image)
2.1 Open the downloaded win32-image-writer:
2.1.1 Select the image file.
2.1.2 Select the device (Currently, my pendrive is at G:).
2.1.3 Hit the "Write" button.
3. I switch on my laptop (DELL E4300 with 2GB RAM).
4. I hit "F12" and chose "USB Storage Device" -> ENTER -> but then. it stops and show...
Code:
   Cannot find GRLDR
* Please refer (No GRLDR.jpg) attached for the screen.
Thanks in advance

That's part of GRUB. So your PC is probably still trying to boot from its disks instead of an external device. Make sure your laptop is configured to use legacy boot, not UEFI.

Where can iI change it? Is it in my BIOS??

For your information, iI made Properties for my pendrive, and the used space only 4.00KB? The memstick.img is 953MB. Any idea for this sir?

Don't look at the properties, Windows doesn't understand the FreeBSD partitions. And yes, you need to configure your BIOS.

Ahh, I bought a CD. Then, iI burn it into the CD. Then, iI install it. Everything works fine. Now, iI'm trying to install mate-desktop into it. Wish me luck... :)

Thanks anyway guys. :)
