How to enable USB - PS2 adapter

I have a keyboard with a PS2 connector which I would like to try using with one of my systems, so I've just bought a USB-PS2 adapter.

Plugging it into my FreeBSD system it registers ok.

lsusb shows:

Bus /dev/usb Device /dev/ugen0.4: ID 13ba:0018 PCPlay Barcode PCP-BCG4209

but it doesn't do anything. However it does work on Arch Linux.

Is there anything I can do to enable it on FreeBSD?

Just noticed that it works OK on another system - that one is running 14.0, but it doesn't work on my current system which runs 13.2.

I'll see what happens on my other system if I boot 13.2.

USB-PS2 adapters are (IME) notably unreliable; some work, some do not - and you can't tell by looking, they look the same.
Oh, one more thing: PS2 isn't hotplug; you might damage your PS2 device if you plug or unplug into a powered PS2 socket.

I just found an old keyboard with a PS2 connector and it's much better than my USB keyboard, so once I plug it in, I'll probably leave it plugged in. I'm just glad I found one that works, although not on all my systems. Don't know why.

One I bought a few months ago didn't work anywhere.
