I would like to delete my account.

Could you please tell me how to do that as there doesn't seem to be an option anywhere to do this.

Thank you.

Without adding fuel to the fire allow me to present my general opinion. Please don't take this personally.

You are creating videos for FreeBSD. No complaints but this is another style of learning.

The people who visit this forum continually tend to be highly technical in nature.
We like documentation and we read it.

So please. Continue to do what you do. We all like our FreeBSD.
If I were to guess at the demographics here I would say majority are 50-80 years old.
We are a different market segment than the other place....

I do understand the audience is different, and that's a good thing... I fully appreciate the many, many clever & smart people here.
It's not that that was the crux of the dispute, it was that before the post I made informing of a workaround for the Firefox issue, a post was made that made assumptions about my character and motivations from someone who had formed an opinion based upon a misunderstanding over many years.
I took it to heart and responded (it's a weakness of mine, I wear my heart on my sleeve).
An apology was issued, and I feel as if the best thing is to leave it at that...

Likewise, heart on my sleeve and all that, please don't go. I was a pig, in my frustration, but that's no excuse, I was a pig, and you were right to respond. Very unfortunate misunderstandings, but please don't go. Stay and be mended.

I'd also rather see you shake hands and come to an understanding. Who knows, maybe in some years you stand in a bar, having a pint and shake your head over this. Even while that is not a given, it's a chance not to be wasted lightly.

Also personally, I hate to delete user accounts. It has the taste of surrender. And you two seem to be pretty the same in the spectrum, that may explain things. Misunderstandings happen, and they can be set straight. So you two shake hands, have a beer (or tea or whatever) and cool down a bit. Yes?

I completely understand where the OP is coming from. It has been 7 years since I was last here, which was 100% because of the way one particular member acted toward another member which caused them to also leave.

I called that member out for their actions, and you know what? The forum members didn't care and actually defended what he did to cause someone to leave.

Looks like nothing has changed in 7 years. FreeBSD bullies remain and continue to be coddled--driving away others.

Like the idiot you are, you assume facts that I've never claimed. I don't browse the Web with Plan 9 or 9front. I've read some articles using Charon on Inferno just for kicks, although that isn't what I use it for you insipid fool. There is a linuxemu3 program that will allow one to run Mozilla or Opera on 9front; but I've never used it. So again, more baseless claims from the resident fool.

Why would you even think Netsurf would run on Plan 9? Only a stupid person would think so.

GFY!

You do nothing but spew inane bullshit most of the time and make claims which are nowhere close to being true. Always touting OpenBSD like your lips are locked on Theo's dick.

Yet they allow you to continue spreading FUD. I said before that I was done with this forum before because of you. This time I am finished. Done.

You are a joke. Good luck to all of you with the Oko clown.

Goodbye for good! I really mean delete my account. The guy is too much.

gpatrick now tell us that you've never had an outburst.

Towards completeness:

And? It was to the same person that made comments to drive the other member to leave. They kept making up stuff and making comments never said. Admins didn't care. Others didn't care and even approved of it. So I laid it out. Nothing has changed.

As I just wrote. Seven years later and the FreeBSD bullies continue to do what they do and the others back it up. And those doing the bullying don't even care!

The OP in this thread stated the exact reason they left. Exactly what drove me to write what I did seven years ago and why I left. It had no impact on the administrators here since even they condoned what was said seven years ago that made someone leave.

What a shitty place that condones actions that force others to leave and not even care but celebrates it.

I'm gone again. Nothing will change here. The bullies will continue to drive others away and those supporting it will continue to make jokes.

What is the point of this? Just because it can be done? Say you're a C developer, are you going to do web development only in C just because you like it and know it? Scrap the HTML, CSS, PHP, Ruby, whatever, but do everything in C. Is that what this exercise is?

Whatever happened to using the best tool for the job?

Chrome on Linux? Mac? Windows?
(Quoting here as it's pretty much related and not to pollute that thread) Now that's some "bullying", jumping in the middle of thread discussing how to view DRM-encoded videos on FreeBSD without understanding what it's about (C vs HTML/CSS/... remark) and suggesting to use another OS, absolutely helpful.

Sorry for outburst :D

Folks, focus on the positives and don't get triggered by the negatives.
I'm gone again. Nothing will change here.
Instead stick around, be strong (that is, don't let -ve comments make you lose your cool) and make this a better place! BTW, I use & love plan9 & 9front (but mostly as toys!).

A questionable hijack. Took me by surprise. Reminding myself that the opening poster and I did exchange apologies, both publicly and privately, plus I had a private conversation with one other person.

I had my own reasons, entirely different, for signing out from forums for more than a year, so I do know what it's like to feel trepidation when returning.

It might help to draw a line under this morning's episode if the bullying inference related to some other mysterious unnamed person. Looking around the three comments that preceded the drive-by, I can't see bullying towards gpatrick, maybe I'm wrong:
  1. <https://forums.freebsd.org/posts/631231>
  2. <https://forums.freebsd.org/posts/631368>
  3. <https://forums.freebsd.org/posts/631470>
Wondering whether I did anything to make gpatrick feel bullied in the past. The name isn't familiar, and according to XenForo, I never quoted any writing by gpatrick before this morning. Reverse chronological order:

In any case, let's try to draw a line. If the person's having a bad day, let's not make it worse.

If one small good thing can come of all this: it'll be a bug report to XenForo, for search results (pictured above) misrepresenting struck-through text as not struck through.

Thanks.
