Solved How does one get e-mail notifications from FreeBSD Forums?

I have the following settings, but I'm still not getting the notifications:

I don't know if this still holds true, but if your mail provider deems TLS an mandatory requirement to accept mails, you are not going to get any mails from this forum as mails are still send unencrypted. Can some of the authorities confirm, if this is still the case ?

Thanks. It all seems to be working OK now.

Hi Vull,

I have been meaning to ask the same thing, but I only get summary emails when I haven't visited the site for some period of time (a week perhaps). But, I'd like to be immediately notified via email as well. I have everything enabled and just now enabled push notifications in my profile (with the hopes that it might also trigger email alerts to go through).

Can you share what resolved the issue for you if you don't mind sharing?

Thanks,

I’d be happy to, but I’ve forgotten. I no longer visit the site so often or check email notifications. It was working as of my last post in this thread. good luck with it.

You can change the email settings in your account's preferences, https://forums.freebsd.org/account/preferences

Push notifications are small popups you get from your browser when you visit the website. It has very little to do with email notifications.

I have both email and push, but I only get email notifications if I haven't visited the site in a while. It is strange. I would like to have immediate email notifications.

I am "fairly" certain they're not going to junk or being deleted.

tOsYZYny In the past week we've sent you 3 emails, have these arrived?

Time is EDT.

Oh, I think perhaps evolution must be marking them as spam. I checked in the gmail web app and found them under spam and now also just found them in evolution's spam folder too. I must have only checked trash.

I previously used thunderbird for which I did have email filters to reduce junk, but freebsd never was blocked. I suspect then that perhaps evolution is flagging them for some strange reason.

Sorry for the trouble, this was clearly my user error.

It works now, it must have been evolution doing something. I went in manually and unmarked the messages as not junk and those moved to the inbox and I just now got a new message.
