bhyve How do I put OEM Windows Licence in Bhyve (brand new hardware)?

I remember a long time ago, someone posted what needed to be put into the Bios of a VM to get a windows OEM license to be usable. I can't find those old instructions. Can anyone provide me with instructions (or at least pointers) on how to get windows OEM to register when run inside a VM?

I'm finally upgrading my home FreeBSD server (current one is 10 years old). The new hardware comes with a Windows 11 Pro license. Obviously, this is an OEM license. I want to run it in a Bhyve VM. I've already ordered a 2nd drive for the system, so I won't ever boot the Windows software outside the VM.

OEM Windows licenses are tied to their original installation hardware signature.
If you want to move between hardware platforms, you need the Retail version, not OEM.

I was under the impression that the OEM license is now embedded in the TPM module, at least that how it is on my HP EliteDesk 800 G3 SFF and G4 Mini... You should be able to pass the TPM to Bhyve...

There are also videos on YouTube about retrieving embedded OEM license to use in VMs...

when i got my dell xps 15 a couple of years ago this is what i did to get the key

type “cmd” in the Windows search bar.

Command Prompt will appear in the search results.
Right-click it and select “Run As Administrator” from the window that appears.
If prompted, enter your Windows account password.

Once open, copy and paste the following command and then hit the Enter key:

Code:
wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey

The 25-digit product key will then appear.
dont know if that helps

FWIW, I tried many times and I never manged to make it work, regardless of Linux, FreeBSD, Virtualbox, bhyve etc. I simply gave up.
