Solved google earth 7.x

Guest
I'm trying to install google-earth, from ports, on 10.3; make config && make install appeared to work ... pulled in a few dependencies and a few CentoOS rpms packages, apparently the installation was fine.

upon starting the application, I got an error:
Code:
$ googleearth
ELF interpreter /lib/ld-linux.so. not found, error 2
Abort trap
$

Any hint ?

That's what I looked at, so far ...

I was unable to find ld-linux.so anywhere on the filesystem, but there was
/compat/linux/lib/ld-linux.so.2
therefore I created a symlink ld-linux.so -> ld-linux.so.2
without any luck.

linux modules appears to be loaded ...
Code:
$ kldstat

Thank you, your patch moved the things one step forward: after that I had an error:
Code:
$ googleearth
./googleearth-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libsasl2.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
which was easily solved by installing linux-c6-cyrus-sasl2

After that it crashed much like the same as in your case, but relaunching it again seems to work ...
My cards is nvidia 8600 GS, driver nvidia-340.96.

I will test more ... but it seems working! :)

Many thanks!

Hi,
ASX Does the Google Earth window show up for you? Thanks.
Yes, it has worked since then.

Hi,
I have the same problem with google-earth 7.
Now that I checked about version, pkg info return google-earth-7.1.5.1557_1,3,
instead, the "help/about" menu entry return:
Code:
Google Earth 6.0.3.2197
Build Date 5/13/2011
Look like something else is not right ... didn't noticed until now.

But i need some explanations about how to apply a patch (im new to freebsb !) ?
Before to build/install google-earth, copy the patch into a file, say:
/usr/ports/astro/google-earth/ge-fix.patch

then run the commands:
Code:
cd /usr/ports/astro/google-earth
patch < ge-fix.patch
make install clean
