Solved git pull says unknown switch

I'm following https://docs.freebsd.org/en/books/handbook/cutting-edge/#updating-src-obtaining-src I enter /usr/src and `git remote --v` shows it's under version control but when I do `git pull -C /usr/src` it outputs "error: unknown switch C" and fails to update.

I don't use git much, but:

and:

Git - git-pull Documentation

git-scm.com

Makes it look like it should be git -C <path> <command> so maybe git -C /usr/src pull would work? If that does work then would seem like a documentation error in the handbook?
