Solved GIMP:Plug-in crashed: "file-png"

Hi,
I have problems with running graphics/gimp on FreeBSD 10.2

Did you install package updates recently? I did yesterday, and I'm seeing the same plugin errors for file-jpeg and file-svg. Also, my OS is FreeBSD 10.1. Reinstalling graphics/gimp did not resolve the issue.

Yes, I did.

PR 206097 seems to be related. In my opinion a very conventient way to find such things out is to check "REPORTING PROBLEMS" in http://www.freebsd.org/. This leads to http://www.freebsd.org/support/bugreports.html. This site provides a link to search the current problem reports.

Did someone solve this problem? I'm having the same problem when I try to open a photo.

I'm using 10.3-RELEASE and gimp-2.8.16,2

Thread 54090, "shmat() failed invalid argument" may be of interest.

I found a solution to this symptom which worked for me, in a bug comment referenced in that thread. Add kern.ipc.shm_allow_removed=1 to /etc/sysctl.conf, reboot and try GIMP again.
