vbox FYI: How to get Windows 10 2016 LTSB running in Virtualbox

If you try to install this Windows on Virtualbox, install as Windows 2019, not as Windows 2016 or Windows 10, and set virtualization to "Minimal".
I had to try a while to get it running well, without the Windows display driver constantly crashing (both the default built-in driver as well as the virtualbox guest additions driver).

So for the record, if somebody googles how to get this somewhat exotic Windows variant to run.
Licenses are somewhat hard to obtain, so I am glad I got some, as this is the least-annoying Windows 10 variant I know of :)

I did not see a yellow alert when selecting VBoxSVGA for Windows guest OSes (General->Basic tab->Type/Version).
I only notice this yellow alert when choosing a non-Windows guest. Depending on the guest type, the yellow alert says to use either VBoxVGA or VMSVGA. This is a bit bad, because the guest additions only work well with VBoxSVGA, so you can resize the guest desktop window with the guest adapting to the new window size. Wasn't there a time in the past when this worked?.
But I do not complain, as I am happy that Vbox works fine for Windows guest. ?

What I meant with "virtualization" was System->Acceleration tab->Paravirtualization interface->Minimal. I have no idea why it does not work with "Default" or "Hyper-V". I also turned off "Enable Nested Paging" (or it was off by default).

Microsoft offers a pre-built virtual machine of Windows 10 (build 1809) that came out as a testbed for the then newly introduced browser Edge. See: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/tools/vms/
It is called MS Edge on Win 10 but contains the whole OS. It is available for Hyper-V, Vmware, Virtualbox, Parallels. I run this in Virtualbox without major problems (virtualization: standard, graphics: Vboxsvga). The best thing is: it is activated for 90 days. And on the desktop background you find some text informations how to get around the 90 days limitation. Downside: the virtual disk has only a size of about 40gb.

MS offers also a virtual machine of Windows 11 (Enterprise version), download size about 20gb. Also for Hyper-V, Vmware, Virtualbox, Parallels. See https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/downloads/virtual-machines/
The expiry date of the activation is much shorter.
