ZFS FreeBSD drops ZFS in favor of HAMMER2

FreeBSD foundation have ended long time speculations by a press release issued an hour ago.

We are pleased to announce that FreeBSD will be dropping ZFS in favour of HAMMER2 file system. It is time for us to move to more modern and less resources hungry file system. ZFS has served us well but it is time to retire. As of today 3 full time paid developers will be helping Matt Dillon make necessary kernel changes to accommodate new file system.

You should share your OpenNTPD config files with people from Distrowatch ;)

Bad news to me, please drop Hammer2 instead of ZFS, ZFS is the best file system I have used so far. Self-healing, RAIDZ, L2ARC , ZIL ....

By the way, can Hammer2 does all the goodies of ZFS? Especially better software RAID, L2ARC, ZIL? I guess it is still far more behind the ZFS.

Another April fools:D ?
