FreeBSD desktop environment

I don't know if this is the right section...

But I was thinking, lately there's been some issues, for example with XFCE, moving to udev (which is only available to linux ATM), developers can't keep porting all those programs (like they did with hald) too frequently...

Some other Desktop Environments also have some issues currently, some due to linuxisms, and I thought: "Hey, how cool would that be, if FreeBSD had it's own Desktop Environment!"

Not necessarily written from scratch, of course, this way, we'd benefit from more stability, better support, and better documentation!

Sorry, I'm closing this one. We've had at least a dozen threads about this (GUI environments, GUI installers, FreeBSD+WM, FreeBSD+DE, FreeBSD+GUI, PC-BSD, DesktopBSD, etc.). Most of those topics are in Off-Topic. Look there. No need in repeating it yet again.
