FreeBSD 14 RC2 upgrade

Hello! I am attempting to upgrade to FreeBSD 14-RC2 (from 13.2-release) and it's telling me that it can't merge the /etc/group file. I have no idea how to merge this file manually. I'm reading about how to merge it but I'm so confused. Anybody willing to hold my hand through how to merge it manually? (I attempted to use mergemaster but I wrecked that too). I know there must be an easy way to do it. I've never had to do it before because the installer always did it for me. Or should I just be patient and wait for the full release? Thank you so much because this is frustrating me to no end...

I usually install my upgrades by just rebuilding the system. This time, I tried the freebsd-update upgrade method. Similar to what's outlined here: https://docs.freebsd.org/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/updating-upgrading-freebsdupdate.html . I had some conflicts with an unusual notation...

Please, did you complete the minor update (including any necessary restart of the computer, and so on) before attempting the major upgrade?

The FreeBSD Project home page currently includes a link to FreeBSD-EN-23:12.freebsd-update:

For me, the source update, I used etcupdate resolve to eliminate the conflicts one by one.
