Forum accessis a little too sloooow

It is not always as fast all of the time. There seem to be some slow times (Europe/US attendance overlap?), but usually I have no complaints.

for me it's pretty slow.
I have used forum with 2 different ISP (my current ISP sux, hope to get back to my previous ISP ASAP)

When forums was just opened, it seamed to me to load faster.

And i must agree To DutchDaemon, it seams that sometimes it runs faster, sometimes slower....

I'm form Europe ;)

If you think you have it bad, I can't even get on the forums, let alone post a complaint about it.

lol, i had to rewrite my previous post (in this thread) because 1sn time i submitted it, i had a REALLY BIG connection timeout... or something like that.

Added comment: in the beginning I used to read the forums using https, but that became intolerable for sure. By the way, Netcraft says Varnish is no longer user-facing, is that right? Or was that the Day of Infamy, when "Varnish" was all it actually showed?

I'm not able to use forum via firefox, but it works under Opera only. For firefox it giving me out

Code:
Bad Request

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Apache/2.2.x (FreeBSD) Server at forums.freebsd.org Port 443

Ubuntu Desktop + Firefox 3.0.8 + Adblock Plus + NoScript + Google Toolbar. It was working till sunday.

vivek: clean up your cookies, that might help.

BTW. the load time here is a bit slow too, but it always had been such. I suppose that it is just because the box is somewhere in the US and not routed optimally from my home.

Sometimes it's a bit slow, but that's probably due to our wonderful Inter/networking infrastructure.
But most of the time, loading time is good.

Do you mind me asking why you'd browse a forum using HTTPS?

danger@: oh, yes, it is working now. I can't believe cookies can create a such problem. thanks for help. Speed is same here, but we have squid at upstream. I also run squid on my home. May be it is MySQL server. But overall I'm happy with speed.

No, I don't mind.

Oh, no cleartext password (or cookies with clues) crossing the net, basically. I guess I could login on https, and switch back to http.

Ok, I know the use of HTTPS and I would understand taking this kind of precautions for an e-banking account or something.

But how many snoopers could be intercepting your line, right now, and sniffing all your connections just to get their hands on your FreeBSD Forums password?

It's way easier for an admin here to block a hijacked account than for an attacker to hijack one in the first place. A potential attacker knows that and wouldn't even bother since there's very little, if anything, to gain.
But of course I might be wrong.
