Disable 8bit autoconvert in sendmail

sendmail is not listening to outside calls on my system; this is all about local mail (even from myself to myself).

I found that when I send the message with latin-1 characters and MIME-encoded as quoted-printable, sendmail will automatically convert to 8bit. I don't like this; IMO MTAs should not touch message body content at all. How can I disable it?
