Default Webcam when booting

I have an EMEET HD Webcam eMeet C960 working when I need it when using ZOOM etc… However, when I need the microphone for carrying out a Youtube search, it is not found. It is only shown after the initial boot when I try to do an audio search using Youtube. When I click the microphone symbol, while Youtube is active for the first time, a drop-down menu shows all possibilities available on my system. Thus, I scroll down and choose the EMEET HD Webcam eMeet C960 and the microphone works as intended. But, the next time I try an audio search while on Youtube, it does not recognize the EMEET unit and there is no drop down window shown again. I've changed in /dev, the permissions for the appropriate devices such as the video0 and video1 and ugen0.4 as shown through the dmesg listing. If anyone has any suggestions as to how to always have my EMEET HD Webcam be selected as default each time I boot up for my day's activities, I would be very appreciative for your thoughts or any syntax that would solve this issue. In addition, I have an NVIDIA video card, a audio card with an emu10k1 chip, and an ASUS motherboard with both video/sound chips. Which are the other possibilities that are shown when the drop-window is displayed, but are not offered when trying to do an audio search on Youtube.

you can only select an audio device in the browser if its using pulseaudio

if the browser isnt using pulseaudio it will use the default mic

Thanks for your reply. I use Firefox. Thus; is there an area where I can find out what audio device Firefox uses? I'm going to load pulseaudio and see if that will solve the issue. Well, I just ran pkg install pulseaudio and the message "The most recent versions of packages are already installed." So now I'll have to learn how to have Firefox use it as the default.

I am sure there is something in this thread to help:

Well, I removed PulseAudio and in doing so, I lost audio. Thus, I reinstalled PulseAudio and audio is back. However, I started to read through the default.pa and am now impressed with all the snippets. So, is there a forum for PulseAudio? I will need expertise as to how to make any changes to possibly have my EMEET webcam be set as default when booting FreeBSD and using Youtube.

You can install pavucontrol and play with it. Specifically,
* You should check if you see the device in the 'input devices' tab
* You should check if the meter moves when you speak
* You should check which device is being used for Firefox in the 'recording' tab, and if it's not the one you expected, change that
