Other Current state of Linux-data file support

Can anyone tell me the current state of support and/or requirements for accessing Linux filesystems?

I was able to use sysutils/fusefs-ext4fuse previously but this no longer available. Am I now supposed to use sysutils/fusefs-ext2?

Does mount -t ext2fs no longer work?

I think sysutils/fusefs-lkl is the "new thing". I haven't used it.

# /sbin/mount -t ext2fs -o ro
still works perfect.
[I'm not sure if it also works for ext3 , ext4 , it might.]

Since 12.0, ext2fs should work also for read/write ext4 filesytems.

That's the only valid option, I use sysutils/fusefs-lkl frequently.
Everything else doesn't work properly: they may appear working, but brake unexpectedly, even in read-only mode. One example is symlinks to long paths, another is very large number of files in a directory.

I was using ext2fs to access a few scripts on my Fedora disk yesterday.

You may need to mount in lvm.

Sure, it works for simple things like that, but not for serious work like backing up large projects.
