CUPS ... Oh, What a Drag ==> Color Printer *Only* Prints Black & White

O/S: FreeBSD 13.1 amd64
Desktop: XFCE
Printer: Ricoh Aficio SP C430DN (Color Laser)

This printer worked great under Linux (Devuan amd64). (I left linux for FreeBSD last year).
Had fast & high quality color printing from the start, never had issues.

Installed CUPS & got it working.
Installed printer (Ricoh Aficio SP C430DN) using ipp, with connection string
ipp://10.10.200.204/ipp
Did a test print from CUPS/web browser, works great and prints really fast.
Tried to print color photos from web page in firefox, everything prints Black & White / Greyscale.
No color. Ever.

I looked around for relevant settings, all settings I'm aware of say color & sound right.
I can't find any obvious reason for this.

What gives?

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks!
Dave

Found first clue.

1. There is a color setting accessible from the print settings dialog box (commonly used at the desktop level) that is not available in the CUPS web interface.
Setting this to color prints in color, depending on item #2 following...

2. When the "color" setting is enabled, the Ricoh PPD PDF driver prints in color, the Ricoh PPD Postscript driver does not. It still prints only black and white.

So, it appears to be a printer driver issue. Printer settings could be an issue with the Postscript driver. (?) Also possibly the application(s) I'm printing from.

Further testing needed.

But, I'm happy. At least I see light at the end of the tunnel and can proceed with FreeBSD, not having to go back to linux just so I can print the docs needed to run my business.

I'll have to return to this issue, will post results when available.
