Crazy Screen Resolution of KDE5 on FreeBSD 12.1 as guest in a VirtualBox

For testing purposes, I installed KDE5 on FreeBSD within a VirtualBox. After logging-in, the screen resolution jumps to 5632x5632. Can I somehow adjust the screen resolution of the KDE5 Plasma desktop for a given user on the command line. The system got already GNOME 3 installed, and with that the screen resolution for a new user starts with 1024x768 and can be adjusted to other suitable sizes.

Running xrandr <options> in a X terminal or setting it permanently in ~/.xinitrc should work ( works on my VirtualBox FreeBSD VM's ).
