Communicating with Google TV

Not sure if this the appropriate forum rather than Multimedia...

I have a Google TV device attached to my TV, but can't figure out how to send files to it.

Any suggestions on what I should install? I guess I should install an sshd server, but not sure which...

Is there something like a terminal emulator for Google TV?

net/minidlna and VLC on your TV, or the chromecast options included in Android for photos, youtube and things like that.

Some routers already include a DLNA server, you just have to activate it and connect a USB to it.

The easiest way to play video files from the network is VLC on the gizmo and samba on a server.
I tried connecting with my NFS server and VLC couldn't find any files on it.

I did manage to install a 'unix' 'Qute_ Terminal' but haven't managed to find my way around yet. I was able to ping my NFS server, so not sure why VLC couldn't find any files on it.

I tried sftp but got the same result.

What I find most frustrating is that a msg tells me to 'adjust my preferences' but I see no means of doing this.

I have now defined four servers, all pointing at the same system and am unable to amend or delete them.
