Has anyone able to use mediawiki122 with the MySQL replacement mariadb55-server?
Yes. I know this is an old thread but I shouldn't start a new one on the same topic, and maybe some other people are interested.
The correct way is probably to build MediaWiki from ports and substitute MariaDB for MySQL, but I'm not that competent yet. I installed MariaDB server and Apache 2.4 in the usual way from packages, paying careful attention to the installation messages for Apache 2.4.
Then I followed the
www.mediawiki.org guide to installing MediaWiki on FreeBSD although it was not entirely up-to-date at the time, and then (and this is the important part) I installed the following shared extensions for PHP:
~ $ sudo pkg install php84-dom
~ $ sudo pkg install php84-readline
~ $ sudo pkg install php84-sockets
~ $ sudo pkg install php84-zlib
~ $ sudo pkg install php84-xmlreader
~ $ sudo pkg install php84-ctype
~ $ sudo pkg install php84-fileinfo
~ $ sudo pkg install php84-filter
~ $ sudo pkg install php84-iconv
~ $ sudo pkg install php84-intl
~ $ sudo pkg install php84-mbstring
~ $ sudo pkg install php84-mysqli
~ $ sudo pkg install php84-session
~ $ sudo pkg install php84-xml
Maybe some were not needed, or maybe it depends on the particular requirements of the wiki, but this worked for me on FreeBSD 14.1. (I am stuck that on until I can get FreeBSD 14.2 to work with the sienna-cichlid graphics driver modules, which appear to have been built for FreeBSD 14.1 only.)
