Solved Cannot run in framebuffer mode

Not sure if this is the correct forum.. I'm using LXDE but I'm not sure if that's relevant.

I've just updated FreeBSD from 12.2 to 14.1 and updated pkgs, and now I can't start xorg because of the above error. I'm told I need to specify busIDs but have never done this before and don't know what this means.

I've seen threads mentioning this error, but they are from several years ago, and posts from then might not be relevant today.
 
So, what video driver did you install on 12.x? If it's one of those DRM drivers make sure you updated it. And note that the packages in the repositories are still for 14.0, they will likely fail to load on 14.1.

I updated on old disk which had 12.2 installed and after putting this disk in a ThinkPad W520 and all worked OK including LXDE.

After the upgrade I got the above error. Now I've inserted the disk in a ThinkPad X61 and it runs LXDE OK, which suggests I can't use the same disk in different systems.
