brotli-1.2.0,1 making my head explode!!

Every package (emby, git, musicpd, zoneminder, etc) I've tried installing today uses brotli-1.2.0,1. I've tried installing the same packages on both my desktop and laptop and it crashes every time.

Every time it crashes with this info:

[1/28] Installing brotli-1.2.0,1...
[1/28] Extracting brotli-1.2.0,1: 100%
Child process pid=17655 terminated abnormally: Segmentation fault

The log has this entry:

kernel: pid 17655 (pkg), jid 0, uid 0: exited on signal 11 (no core dump - bad address)

I have been chasing this brotil problem all over the Internet for a few days and haven't found anyway to fix it. Is anyone else having this problem with brotil-1.2.0,1??

No problem at all here, last installed a few weeks ago:

What FreeBSD version and CPU architecture are you running? I'm deliberately on the oldest supported 13.5 version.

There is no problem with the 15.0R.

Edit: It seems to be resolved.

Thank you Charlie_ and ralphbsz for taking the time to check this out. The problem is not with brotli-1.2.0,1, or any other package. My server was setup incorrectly which was causing the problem. Thank you again for your helpful comments, they are much appreciated.

Could be a sign of hardware failure.

I can think of a couple of tests
  1. Have you tried installing brotli alone as opposed to as a dependency?
  2. If that fails, see if this command fails /usr/sbin/service ldconfig restart
  3. This is not recommended but you can copy the files yourself and edit the package to basically have no files.
  4. Use truss or gdb a coredump to figure out where the error is causing the error

Nah.... OP's system probably ran out of RAM.

It's also not out of question that there's an ABI inconsistency between the package and the OS, esp. if repo is incorrectly specified in /usr/local/pkg/FreeBSD.conf. This is why I compile everything from ports, rather than rely on pre-compiled packages.
