boot Freebsd disk on usb dvd.

Hi, having used BIOS to install FreeBSD in legacy hardware, I bought a HP MO1-F3224 with no hard disk. Taking out the M.2 memory from the mainboard and installing a new memory stick, then I plugin a DVD unit with FreeBSD 14.2. Also changed the boot order. Nothing after I power it. The DVD light turn on for 5 seconds but then the screnn shows the tests system screen.

is there a way to specifically ask it to boot USB? most boards have a "press F12" or somesuch to select a specific boot device. you might also have to tweak settings in the BIOS.

I changed the boot order to boot first the entry 'usb DVD drive'. I press F1 to enter the BIOS.

For me MBR booting i have to press the correct key F11 on boot and within time. (MSI motherboard).
Then i choose device , external usb stick.
