Hello, I have recently installed FreeBSD on my Thinkpad. I am new to FreeBSD so please forgive me if the description to my problem is simply-worded.
I set up a guest user account to run the GNOME environment when the user enters "startx" in the console (I prefer it that way rather than GNOME starting automatically). When the Desktop loads, it is fine for about 30 seconds. Then the mouse starts to freeze and unfreeze. If I try to start any accessories like Terminal or gedit Text Editor, nothing happens (the mouse-pointer turns into a watch and then turns back into a pointer again). During the initial 30 seconds, they seem to start ok.
I don't know if this is connected, but when I log out of GNOME and return to the console, there are a ton of the following lines before the user prompt:
None of these problems are present when I use GNOME as root. As root, GNOME seems to work fine (except for the screensaver I think).
Can anyone help? Thank you.
