Using almost 6 GB of swap and having only 362 MB of RAM free, my FreeBSD desktop works as a champ. Every process is responsive and all is working perfectly.
The CPU fluctuates between 20% and 80%.
In my experience, FreeBSD works much better than many people give it credit for.
