I have RAIDZ2 with four drives, I'd like to add one more drive. Reading up on this I learned from some older posts this is not implemented. I must destroy the pool and recreate it with more drives. However, since these posts were rather old I'm wondering if anything has changed in this regard. Or maybe there is a workaround? I do have a backup but pumping 5 TB of data over gigabit ethernet is rather painful.
Edit: It appears I can add a drive only as vdev, which is not what I want. Went the hard way, destroyed pool, recreated it with new drive included and copied over 5+ TB of data. In process I learned my LAN can do 75 MB/s average. Marking solved, although it is not.
