ZFS Adding a disk to a striped pool

Hi everyone!

I have a single disk pool that's set up as a stripe of 1. if I go out and buy an equally sized disk to add to the pool, will zfs automatically reorganize the data so existing data is striped? Or will the two disks be in the same pool but two completely vdevs? I'm a little confused.
