FluxBox A complete guide to customizing and configuring Fluxbox on desktop for FreeBSD?

Greetings to all!

Fluxbox is a nice desktop, configure and customize Fluxbox in Linux is not the same for FreeBSD.

That sounds incorrect. You should have a $HOME/.fluxbox directory (that you probably have to create) and in there, you can put in whatever you'd put in your Linux install. I don't know what changes have been made the last few years (I don't use it that often anymore), but keyboard shortcuts and syntax are still the same.

It might be useful if you point out what you consider to be the differences.

How did you come to that conclusion?
Because it is different in some configurations and customizing, the flexibility that represents Fluxbox is exquisite for the machine that consumes much less resources than Xfce.On the internet, not found a complete guide of Fluxbox to configure and customize on FreeBSD, some are half-configurations, and nothing more.

I'd be curious as to what, specifically. I think the best way to get help here would be to say something like, on Linux, I can do X, but on FreeBSD that configuration option is missing. Hopefully, someone will see that and be able to help. Or even something like on Linux, Fluxbox consumes X amount of resources, but on FreeBSD, it is consuming much more, with specifics, such as processor time, memory, whatever. It may be that the Fluxbox developers use Linux, and have made some adaptations that work better on Linux.

So, if you could give a few specifics, it's possible someone may have answers.

I would bet everything I have in this world that the configuration options are exactly the same on both systems, and either (a) you've assumed they must be different for no real reason; or (b) you are thinking of something else other than Fluxbox. There is no conceivable I can think of that customizing Fluxbox on Linux would be any different from doing so on FreeBSD. The window manager handles its configuration internally, separate from the operating system. The only reason I'm not stating this with absolute certainty is that I've never used Fluxbox on Linux.

I have used it on both and other than the location of the binaries and where the example configs are located, the configuration is identical.

Perhaps you have any complete guide for configure and customize Fluxbox? :(

Well, here are some resources you can use to help set up Fluxbox once you get it installed on FreeBSD.

Keep in mind one of these is for Linux but it doesn't matter except for the locations of installed configuration templates.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, the web site https://www.box-look.org/browse/cat/139/ord/latest/ is a great place for themes. Hope this is helpful for you, The only other customization I have done to Fluxbox is to tailor the root menu to my needs. This is done of course, by manual editing. There are probably tools for this but I like editing config files by hand so tend to do things manually. That's it - pretty simple WM and their docs are pretty good, plus there are quite a few web sites out there for help.

Good luck and have fun :)
