14.3 XFCE's hangs after a couple of days

Hi, I'm experiencing this since years, hoping for a fix after upgrading, but I still face the issue after moving from 10.x all the way up to 14.3.

My system is up always, as I use it for both, desktop and for running some jails and VMs that hosts some services that runs 24/7. I notice the hang (not a full system hang, since I can ssh onto it) after some days of mostly using Firefox (now running 140.4esr) with 4 windows on 2 desktops, every window with ~15 tabs open all the time.

Some times the desktop is frozen but I can see the mouse pointer moves, but also some times it is also stuck.

System specs are here (just rebooted).

Does anyone faced the same issue, anything to start looking for to try to find the culpit?.

Leonardo.

According to chatgpt, the issue is the buggy, not really well supported 470.xx driver for the Kepler architecture of the GT 710, and recommends moving to a GPU that uses the 535+ drivers, or AMD Radeon.
Another option is disabling XFCE's compositor and acceleration on Firefox.

That makes sense if the crashing is from the video driver (maybe a VRAM memory leak). My longest uptime Xfce was around ~24hr no problem with Intel UHD 630 but I have desktop compositing disabled (I opened/closed GPU-accelerated Firefox multiple times)

The next time it happens I'd ssh and check dmesg (likely other logs too).

I've had good experience with disabling IOMMU in BIOS and that might change GPU behavior (could be an odd memory leak that only happens with VRAM assigned above 4G; doesn't seem like older GPUs would be tested much against Zen 2+ IOMMU and remapping).
