14.3 STABLE

14.3 STABLE is out....i Think.

uname -aKU
FreeBSD 14.3-STABLE FreeBSD 14.3-STABLE stable/14-2dd67e4f612e MYGEN amd64 1403500 1402505

freebsd-version -kru
14.3-STABLE
14.3-STABLE
14.3-PRERELEASE

Does it mean, I have to do a buildworld, again?

stable/14 has been "out" since it left the 14-CURRENT development cycle. What the change from -PRERELEASE back to -STABLE here means is that releng/14.3 has been branched off. And the first 14.3-BETA1 will appear soon. The creation of a releng/X.Y branch marks the beginning of the release cycle.

1402505 -> 14 (major version) 02 (minor version) 505 (stable and some new features)
1403500 -> 14 (major version) 03 (minor version) 500 (stable)

STABLE uses 500 as a start "build" number, ports or other applications can check this number to determine of certain features are available or not. 1403501 will have a feature or change that 1403500 didn't have. That 500 also shows the difference between 14.3-RELEASE (1403000) and 14.3-STABLE (1403500).

BETA 1 for 14.3 is available to download since yesterday 2nd of May

root@orion:~ # uname -a
FreeBSD orion 14.3-BETA1 FreeBSD 14.3-BETA1 releng/14.3-n271364-3ce28e06246d GENERIC amd64

I have just installed the BETA1 on an existing machine. reusing the /usr/local & /usr/ports directories.
No issues yet that i did not cause myself.

Related announcement was posted to freebsd-stable ML.
Also available via official website.

Basically, as far as I know, annoucements are provided after some time installation media are uploaded to official server to give official mirror servers to be sync with master server. So waiting for the announcement is usually a good idea to be safe.
