Hello,
I am trying to create a Windows VM but I need to boot from my own file. Originally I had it in VHDX format, but using qemu-img I now have it in .img and .vhd formats as well.
I managed to create a virtual machine which booted with the help of cbsd and this video FreeBSD: Bhyve with UEFI...
We have 3 servers with ~40 jails on each under CBSD management.
Each jail running our perl application.
We would like to share installed packages, binaries, installed perl modules across jails.
Plain is
master jail as a base image
jails for application created via `cbsd jclone` , then via ZFS...
Alright, so this may be pretty niche but I'm curious to know if anyone's run into this particular issue. The background is that I'm using sysutils/cbsd for bhyve orchestration and I'm getting around to learning more on how I can leverage cbsd to build out a little cluster to make VM migration...
First look at the working MVP of 'bhyve-qt' (QT6-based frontend for bhyve (and jails ;-)):

What needs to be written in bhyve.conf for CBSD so that the mouse can move in a virtual machine with a FreeBSD guest?
I commented out xhci, tablet, but that didn't help.
The mouse responds to click but doesn't move.
So, I just wanted to fix up my "playground" host. Back then, I used boot environments "incorrectly". i.e. what I did whenever I performed an upgrade or some test I wanted to be able to roll-back from is this:
Create new BE
Activate new BE
Reboot
Do critical stuff
Then either roll back to...
Hello. I have question.
I have FreeBSD Host with one JAIL.
On Host i setup OpenVPN client and i get routing to 192.168.0.1/24 over 10.4.44.109.
From host i can ping 192.168.0.1 and that works fine.
But from JAIL, i cant ping 192.168.0.1 and even 10.4.44.110 (my end of openVPN tunnel)
Can i ask...
Hey all,
Somewhat new to freeBSD here. Apologies in advance if this question is already answered somewhere (I have looked) or if this isn't the right venue. If that is the case, kindly let me know!
Anyhow, so I have a FreeBSD 13.1 server hosting a bunch of jails and some Bhyve VMs. I created...
( during reboot, boot messages show a "CBSD unable to determine the first IP address. Should this be the static private IP of my re0 interface? Thank you. )
I am having trouble dealing with a kwin crash, tried to update kde plasma, portmaster returned several errors, then updated by the pkg...
# The thread was opened with the idea of installing Bhyve-server in an old amd server with 13.1 command line, the first few posts relate to the errors / limitations during install in that server. After that I moved on to install in in a desktop with kde5. The errors mentioned in the first few...
hello, I already have a virtualized machine with a cbsd. I want to move this virtual machine to freebsd installed on proxmox. I transfer the .img file to my freebsd machine in proxmox with the cbsd bexport and cbsd bimport commands. However, when I run the virtual machine I transferred, the...
Hello, all! I have an interesting setup that I'm hoping to get a little bit of help with. Before I start: please yell at me if some of my formatting is wonky-- I'm used to markdown, but not so much the styling that the FreeBSD Forums asks for, so if I've done something that needs to be...
I've been using iohyve to help manage bhyve instances for a couple of years, but I'd like to explore other options.
Is it safe to run multiple management systems on one host (iohyve in addition to, say, cbsd or vm-bhyve), or is there a strategy for migrating guests from one to another? Is there...
Hello,
I need to build on 2 different servers,
some jails environments to host websites, so that they are replicated and can do failover between them.
I saw that on Youtube a user showed exactly what I'm asking for (www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOqMI4-qMg8), but I can not find guides and / or...
Hi,
I would like to introduce a new FreeBSD-based distro: ClonOS ( http://clonos.tekroutine.com/ site is underconstruction ).
Currently, FreeBSD is well proven as a base for routers (pfSense, OPNSense, BSDRP) and NAS (FreeNAS, zfsGuru, Nas4Free). However, FreeBSD-based solutions are almost...
