Yes, I understand it.
I want to set up our own freebsd-update server to build system (kernel+world) and to make my systems to use this server for updating.
Is there any way to do it?
Is freebsd-update server sources in free access? Can I download this sources to build update server?
Hello all!
We have many servers with FreeBSD installed. Now we plan to update all to 9.1. Then we can use freebsd-update to download and install updates. But what if we use custom kernel? Will freebsd-update work on these systems?
And - is there any way to make our own update server to serve...
Hello!
I try to create tar archive with files newer than specific date. I use --newer-mtime option.

``2005-03-12 19:14'', ``5 minutes ago'', and...
Hello!
I have some suggestions to FreeBSD developers about GEOM. Please tell me where I can send my suggestions?
I give it here to discuss it before sending to developers.
Geom saves it's metadata in last sector. It is dangerous.
Last sector is used for storing some information by GPT...
Thank you for your answers.
But "gpart" or "geom" shows information only if there is already configured partitions/filesystems.
What if I have booted to LiveCD/DVD and I need to find any storage devices (to partition it and install system for example). This storage devices may not contain any...
Hello!
Please tell me where I can find info about working with GEOM.

Hello!
I want to replace old disk to new. New disk is Seagate Barracuda Green (Adv. Format)
It has 512 bytes logical, 4096 bytes physical sector size.
As I know slices and partitions have to be aligned to physical sectors (x8 logical) to get good performance.
So question is - does FreeBSD 9...

Ok. thank you for answers. I'll read sources of other package managers. But - is there any documentation from FreeBSD developers? It's always better to get first-hand information.
Hello!
I'm trying to develop package manager. Information in handbook is not enough to understand how packages/ports is registered in system and how to track dependencies.
