Sorry it took so long, I wasn't slacking, school just got a better hold of me.
Didn't seem to work. I manually removed all the files in usr/ports/ and reinstalled everything. I was still running into problems... I got so frustrated I backed up my files and reinstalled FreeBSD 8.1 I am setting...
Didn't work, I had to use:
cp -iprv /usr/local /usr/home/jameshayek/backup_UsrLocalDir/
Thanks, I have a full backup now.
I then ran:
portsclean -C
portsclean -D
portsclean -DD
I copied point number one as a command...
(is this even correct? I am not sure how to interpret this)...
I read the /usr/ports/UPDATING file and tried the suggested syntax for autoconf with no luck, I am still running into problems installing the port(s). (autoconf was needed for Drupal 6 and I am sure for drupal 7 as well)
I looked for ways to back up a directory in FreeBSD and I can across...
So, the reason I am having these problems is because my ports aren't up to date?
I read through /usr/ports/UPDATING and saw your quote along with a bunch of other ports I currently use.
I tried the command as listed and got back the error below:
jameshayekserv# portmaster -o devel/autoconf...
Hello again,
I have had a problem that I posted here:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4731691/updating-to-drupal6-on-freebsd-7-error-code-1-during-make-install
In short, I tried upgrading Drupal5 to Drupal-7.0 and I was able to (after much reading and trial and error) install php5 from my...
Thank you for all your help, after much review and reading I had found for this particular problem my RewriteBase setting was incorrect. Instead of
RewriteBase /
I used:
RewriteBase /drupal
Everything worked smoothly and I was able to use images in UberCart and enable CleanURLs for Drupal...
Hello Again,
I have been working to enable Clean URL for my Drupal installation all day. I have used tutorials from several sites and ever read though the handbook. After around 14 hrs of reading and trying different approaches I am now seeking help.
One of the links that I followed...
Yes, my dates are wayyy off. After installing I selected the correct time zone, but since I am not connected to the net I do not have an accurate reading on the date and time. I realized this but assumed it would not affect what needed to be done to get the nic card running.
In regard to the post from DutchDaemon
What does
Nov 22 21:58:02 kernel: Sun Nov 22 21:58:02 EST 2009
show? That bcmwl5_sys.ko has loaded?
I do not see another ethernet device for the card when running the command ifconfig
#ifconfig
does not show bwi0, it shows:
plip0...
Thank you, I should of realized this. bwi-firmware-kmod is now installed.
I then set the /boot/loader.conf file to contain the command if_bwi_load="YES"
After this I rebooted the system.
I then checked the output of my log file at /var/log/console.log
However, I am unsure of what to...
Upon reading here I have learned that ndis is native since FreeBSD 5.3; I even followed the documentation and I still could not get a ndis0 device to load.
As for installing bwi from port I get another error:
wl_apsta-3.130.20.0.o doesn't seem to exist in /usr/ports/distfiles/
I tried to...
Okay, I have just installed FreeBSD 8 and re-ran everything from the above tutorial to convert a windows driver. Everything converted and ran correctly.
I loaded the driver by kldload ./bcmwl5_sys.ko
I then tried to follow the tutorial. I was still unable to see a result from dmesg | grep ndis...
Thank you sir, however I can not unless I am connected to the internet.
Thank you Richard, this is what I did after downloading the ISO file from my PC and burning to CD. I now have FreeBSD 8 running on the Compaq Laptop. (Only after several attempts, my HD small. I had to install the User...
Sorry for any confusion, here is the pciconf file before and after loading the kernel.
Before:
hostb0@pci0:0:0:0: class=0x060000 card=0x05400e11 chip=0x71928086 rev=0x03 hdr=0x00
vendor = 'Intel Corporation'
device = '82443BX/ZX 440BX/ZX CPU to PCI Bridge (AGP Not...
:r I guess one can not feel something that's not tangible, that was silly how I posed the question...
I am upgrading to ver 8, I will soon see if there is any difference with the drivers.
Yes sir, the output is the exactly same.
Okay, I will download FreeBSD 8 and upgrade to that (I have installed an old CD of FreeBSD 7 on this machine).
Thanks, here is the output of pciconf:
hostb0@pci0:0:0:0: class=0x060000 card=0x05400e11 chip=0x71928086 rev=0x03 hdr=0x00
vendor = 'Intel Corporation'
device =...
My pursuit of success was stopped real quickly...
I loaded the module with:
kldload ./bcmw15_sys.ko
I then used grep:
dmesg | grep ndis
and got nothing. I then used grep on dmesg to find cardbus0 and i saw the message:
cardbus0: <CardBus bus> on cbb0
cardbus0: Expecting link target...
Ah ha! Why thank you sir(s)! Everything compiled after installing the correct files from the CD (also now knowing it can be done through the network, since it was already installed on the HD).
I will now continue on my journey using the tutorial.
Thank you again!! :stud
Okay, I felt silly I was typing in the wrong character several times.
Thanks, I was now able to proceed. However, there was a problem:
Upon the Kernel Module Generation I get an error.
Generating Makefile... done.
Building kernel module... "/usr/share/mk/bsd.kmod.mk", line 12:
