    ThinkPad: problems with HAL

@AlexVader Sorry for the late answer. I came back to my Slackware after one week of trying FreeBSD. Unfortunately I don't use WiFi. I use DSL cable modem. So I can't answer to your question.

    ThinkPad: problems with HAL

    This is the result of the same command used with Slackware Linux: info.product = 'Computer' (string) info.product = 'Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo CPU T2400 @ 1.83GHz' (string) info.product = 'Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo CPU T2400 @ 1.83GHz' (string) info.product = 'ALSA Timer...

    ThinkPad: problems with HAL

I tested HAL with that command: # lshal | grep info.product I tried it with a few FDI files in /usr/local/share/hal/fdi/preprobe/20thirdparty/ directory and without any FDI file. The result was the same in both cases: info.product = 'Computer' (string) info.product = 'AC Adapter'...

    ThinkPad: problems with HAL

Hi Beastie! Nice nick... I tried all the above variants once again restarting HAL with the command: # /usr/local/etc/rc.d/hald forcerestart I did it twice. First time with empty /boot/loader.conf and second time with /boot/loader.conf including these lines: hw.psm.synaptics_support="1"...

    ThinkPad: problems with HAL

I tried FDI file disabling TouchPad. It uses only one merge key so it's relatively simple. I put it in that directory: /usr/local/share/hal/fdi/preprobe/20thirdparty/ I tested it with ten different match keys: <match key="info.product" string="SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad"> <match...

    ThinkPad: problems with HAL

I just discovered an error in my 10-x11-synaptics.fdi file. I put the line defining keyboard layout inside the Linux section. In result FreeBSD ignored that switch. This is the correct keyboard definition: 10-x11-synaptics.fdi <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <deviceinfo...

    ThinkPad: problems with HAL

I installed on my ThinkPad T60 FreeBSD 7.2 with GENERIC kernel plus a few ALTQ options and I'm unable to force HAL to use FDI files. In result I can't use different devices. I followed that FAQ: Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) FAQ... I put in /etc/rc.conf file these lines...

ThinkPad's TrackPoint and TouchPad don't work properly

After reboot Xorg stopped to load /dev/sysmouse driver and started to load again /dev/psm0 one: (II) config/hal: Adding input device PS/2 Mouse (II) LoadModule: "mouse" (II) Loading /usr/local/lib/xorg/modules/input//mouse_drv.so (II) Module mouse: vendor="X.Org Foundation" compiled...

ThinkPad's TrackPoint and TouchPad don't work properly

With the above configuration Xorg loads TouchPad driver but has problems with PS/2 Mouse: (II) LoadModule: "synaptics" (II) Loading /usr/local/lib/xorg/modules/input//synaptics_drv.so (II) Module synaptics: vendor="X.Org Foundation" compiled for 1.6.0, module version = 1.1.2...

ThinkPad's TrackPoint and TouchPad don't work properly

I followed these hints: 1. Instead of package synaptics I have installed in my system port /usr/ports/x11-drivers/xf86-input-synaptics. 2. I added two options to /boot/loader.conf: hw.psm.synaptics_support="1" debug.psm.loglevel="4" 3. I updated my /etc/X11/xorg.conf: Section...

    Lenovo T400 report

I changed keyboard in my old T40 a dozen or so months ago. I forgot since that time that these buttons are a part of a keyboard. Since it's one FRU there is one more reason to associate these buttons with TrackPoint. Thank you Carpetsmoker for the correction.

Add links or lynx to the default installation

I see both links and lynx on the third disc. I doubt these programs are also on the first disc. I suppose sysinstall gets these packages from the third disc. I can be wrong. I installed FreeBSD only three times -- the last week. Thanks for the tip. I overlooked it. It's good to know that TXT...

pf and pflog refuse to work after the system update

Thank you -- I didn't read it. Now I recompiled kernel and everything works well.

pf and pflog refuse to work after the system update

I omitted above some information. I built my CUSTOM kernel with embedded a few ALTQ options but without pf and pflog because both those modules worked out of the box. Now it seems they stopped to work.

pf and pflog refuse to work after the system update

I use FreeBSD 7.2 with CUSTOM variant of GENERIC kernel. I added to my kernel a few of ALTQ options required by pf. After the update of the system I encountered some problems with pf... Here are my ALTQ options: options ALTQ options ALTQ_CBQ # Class...

    Lenovo T400 report

From manufacturers point of view keyboard with TrackPoint is one part and TouchPad with five buttons is the other part. IBM/Lenovo calls each such part FRU. From drivers developer's point of view keyboard, TrackPoint, TouchPad and five buttons are separate devices. Each should be treated...

    Lenovo T400 report

Thank you for reply. I managed to force to work third button's paste function after I put in /boot/loader.conf file that line: hw.psm.synaptics_support="1" It should affect TouchPad but in my case it affected TrackPoint. In my Slackware 12.2 and previous I used specific xorg.conf...

ThinkPad's TrackPoint and TouchPad don't work properly

After one week of skirmiches I finally managed to force to work third TrackPoint's button. Scrolling still doesn't work but pasting text works. It's interesting because I achieved it after putting in /boot/loader.conf file that line: hw.psm.synaptics_support="1" It should affect Synaptics'...

    Lenovo T400 report

Did you manage to use TrackPoint's third button for scrolling on your T400 with FreeBSD 7.1? I'm unable to use mine on T60 with FreeBSD 7.2.
